At Curious Shapes we believe that when it comes to human rights and technology, the most impactful solutions emerge from collaborative and creative efforts.

We work to understand the complex techno-social challenges faced by activists and human rights defenders worldwide through a multifaceted approach that integrates collaborative research, strategic planning, impact evaluation, creative communications, targeted trainings, and engaging events.

Driven by a commitment to evidence-based practices, our approach integrates:

Human-centric research methodologies

Meticulous data collection and analysis

Qualitative and quantitative assessment

We firmly believe in fostering empowerment through meaningful work, creativity, experimentation, fun, and the intentional cultivation of supportive and positive relationships. We recognize and seek to address the challenges arising from diverse backgrounds, educational experiences, linguistic differences, and existing power dynamics. In our work, we prioritize active listening, hands-on learning for continuous growth, and clear communication.

Our mission extends beyond short-term programs and projects. We aim to create welcoming spaces for diverse experts to collaborate on creative advocacy and impactful programs. We work to develop innovative research approaches and evaluation methods to understand localized and contextualized challenges and refine goals for meaningful impact. By assisting organizations in developing long-term strategies, we bridge the gap between grassroots efforts and broader policy changes. We also seek to use these approaches and research to communicate complex and contextualized challenges to funders and other powerful stakeholders.

We are researchers, strategic communicators, catalyzers, community builders, storytellers, multimedia producers, fiction writers, and artists.

Our team has significant experience in all aspects of the program management/network development role, including strategy, development, network and community management, communications, operations, and budget management. We have architected this team to draw on the unique capacities and experiences of each member of our diverse, multinational women-led team.
